WorkSource at the Downtown Library
A Pilot Project to Help Job Seekers at Los Angeles Public Libraries
March 2012
Launched in March 2012, this pilot project connects the Central Library to the Workforce Investment Board's WorkSource Centers. Every Tuesday, from 10AM to 3PM, representatives from the Downtown and Westlake WorkSource centers staff a booth just outside the Central Library's Business & Economics Department.
Since the launch, job seekers are assisted in referrals to the WorkSource Centers, where they can go through an orientation and receive additional job search assistance and possible referral for training opportunities. The Los Angeles Public Library (LAPL), the WIB, and the City of Los Angeles Community Development Department are working to expand this pilot to five other LAPL branch libraries across the City.
